No Longer Vyrnwy Virgins

We’ve been planning to visit Lake Vyrnwy since we’d bought the van a couple of years ago, but had never got round to it until today.

It’s about an hour’s drive to the Visitor Centre, where we parked up, wrangled with the cash only parking machine, then grabbed a couple of hot drinks before having a walk to the dam, then picking up a map.

It’s a super place on a sunny day and relatively quiet today, now that the kids are back at school. You can hire bikes, go paddle boarding on the lake and follow miles of trails with fantastic scenic views. We spotted a Kingfisher and a Dipper, which is always a bonus.

We drove to a car park at the north of the lake, where we followed a stream side walk to the Rhiwargor Falls. Ralf was off his lead and in his element and we all enjoyed a great day out.

Here’s a set of photos in no particular order – we’ll definitely be back another day.

Love Vyrnwy, one of mine and my late Husband’s favourite places! Not been since he died (3+ yrs). Wouldn’t do it on my own, hence why i’ve nor been. If i had someone to (metaphorically) hold my hand, i might make it, but yay i do at least have memories and photos!

I'd love to hear your thoughts, so grab a pew and I'll make you a brew - Hobnob or Bourbon?
