A Reminder of What We’ve Missed

A Reminder of What We’ve Missed

I’ve not exactly fallen out of love with Absinthe, but my passion for her has possibly waned since the pandemic hit and we’ve not been able to use her very much. Today was a reminder of all that’s good about her and the great friends we’ve made since we bought her. Ok, we didn’t get to camp in her or stay overnight, but we did get to meet some lovely people for a socially distanced walk and picnic, plus an opportunity to sit and chew the fat.

We met at Clough Head car park and cafe on the Grane Road, near Haslingden and walked 3 miles around the area, before having coffee and cake at the cafe. As days out go it might sound dull, but actually, it was just what we all needed. We haven’t seen each other since August 2020, and it was really great to meet up and to hatch plans for more trips in 2021.

A great day and one we’ll repeat as soon as possible. A massive thanks to Simon, Mike, Moira and Alison for a top day out.

Things We’ve Learned

It can be flippin’ cold in April

Hailstones won’t spoil our enjoyment

A ham, mustard and pease pudding sandwich? Yes, please

One of our party can’t see the point of soup

Cameras work much better with batteries in

When you’ve been promised a terrific coffee, it’s inevitable that the machine at the cafe will break down

It looks ad sounds fab. Personally I never lose touch with Peachy-Poos – she’s my daily drive to work.

Sure you went to Clough Head, mate. He truly was a big-headed chap but boy he was a excellent goal scorer (and manager later on but that is not our story, is it?).

Martin, that reservoir looks like it holds wild trout. Smoked of course. Just found this so I’ve bookmarked it. ATB, John

Thanks John. I’m pretty sure you can’t fish that reservoir unfortunately. United Utilities are quite strict.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, so grab a pew and I'll make you a brew - Hobnob or Bourbon?
