First Trip of 2013
With good weather forecast (well, no rain anyway) for the weekend we decided to dust Absinthe down and go up to the Lakes for the day. We left around 11.15 and had an uneventful drive up the M6.
We stopped on the shores of Coniston, just past Brown Howe on the road to Torver, to have a coffee and chill out with the view. Alison was hungry so we drove into Coniston village to walk down to the Bluebird Cafe. It was cold, even in the covered area outside, but two bacon butties and hot chocolates hit the spot.
After a short walk back to the camper and a browse round the Fudge and Outdoor shops we drove around the East side of the Lake to Ruskin’s Brantwood. There was a wedding reception taking place in the main house so we headed next door to Jumping Jenny’s cafe for tea and cake.Yummy!
We decided to drive back through Coniston Village as the views are better on the West side of the lake and stopped on Blawith Common to take Boz for a run. Glorious views of the lake before we headed back to reality.
The M6 was a car park at J36 so we took the scenic view before rejoining at the Carnforth junction. Hopefully this is the first of many trips throughout 2013.
